The latest wave of Hot Wheels iD hit Amazon on Thursday, and less than 24 hours later, the cars were in-hand. Some collectors were underwhelmed by the four vehicles — two of which were #Unlicensed Hot Wheels. Me? Well, I was excited to add yet another #”15 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 to my collection. It’s one of those Hot Wheels that I started collecting from the initial #First Edition release.

Comparing the latest release of a particular Hot Wheels car with its #First Edition release is something that I do quite often. Often times, Hot Wheels will release said “First Edition” with a licensed paint scheme, as was the case with the #’15 Jaguar F-Type Project 7. Google the real car and you’ll see that Hot Wheels nailed the British Racing Green paint, front-end stripe, blank white gumball on doors, and the #5Y Wheels. The #Hot Wheels iD release is done in essence of that original release, but with #Spectraflame Aqua Green Paint and #iD5 Wheels.

If you’ve been following the releases in the #Hot Wheels iD line closely, you’ll know that for $7, you’re getting that #Spectraflame Paint, line exclusive #iD5 Wheels, custom-coded NFC chip, AND full-detail — and this #’15 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 does not disappoint. Kudos to Hot Wheels for already doing a great job with prior mainline releases of the casting as they all feature headlights. The iD release takes the front-end detail a step further and captures the white framing around the grill.

Where to real detail difference comes is on the rear-end. Taillights, rear badging, and a #Hot Wheels iD license plate elevate this car.

That rear detail is something that none of the previous releases had — all of which have the same graphics scheme. Speaking of that graphics scheme: How cool is it that all six releases have that? I cannot recall another Hot Wheels casting that kept a real, uniform paint scheme for its first five years worth of releases. If you can think of one — GREAT! — let me know. As for the #’15 Jaguar F-Type Project 7, the casting collection stands at six now with this latest release.
