These castings have been discontinued. Though some have not been officially retired, our rule-of-thumb is that if a casting has not been used in the last 5 years, it joins the ranks of our discontinued castings. Like all rules, there are exceptions to it.

Toy Story Characters: ZURG GT

Its been about 6 years of #Hot Wheels Characters now, and among these character-inspired fantasy cars, collectors have found a few gems. Back in 2010, when the Toy Story Characters line was first released (followed shortly by the Muppets), “traditional” collectors sobbed as they thought these fantasy cars were “junk”. Clearly […]

Road Repair 5-Pack: DODGE RAM 1500

Don’t let the orange paint, realistic proportions and industrial graphics throw you off. This is not a Matchbox truck, this is a Hot Wheels truck. Since Mattel bought Matchbox in 1997, Hot Wheels and Matchbox have diverged in brand direction. Matchbox focuses on regular, everyday vehicles while Hot Wheels […]

Clover Cars: SEARED TUNER

Since Hot Wheels hasn’t released the St. Patrick’s Day “Clover Cars” Series since 2012, we will make this a Throwback Thursday “St. Patrick’s Day Edition” and throw it back to 2007 — the first year of the Clover Cars. Sold exclusively at Walmart in 2007, all 8 of these […]

2001 First Editions: TOYOTA CELICA

When Hot Wheels first started to dabble in the #Tuners and #JDM cars in the early 2000s, the Toyota Celica was among the very first. While some collectors (at the time) were disappointed the Celica didn’t come more stock, most came around when they realized the Hot Wheels […]

Whips / Team Baurtwell: MONTEZOOMA

Lowriders are part of a custom car culture that has seemingly gone by the wayside in terms of Hot Wheels today. But that wasn’t always the case. Back in the late ’90s and early ’00s, Hot Wheels lowriders were thriving with several castings being released in that time […]

HW Racing Series: FERRARI F430 CHALLENGE

There is somewhat of a mystery surrounding the Hot Wheels Ferrari F430 Challenge casting. When did it appear? Many collectors (including myself), had believed that the mystery lied within a mystery, in that the first occurrence of this challenge version occurred in the 2009 Mystery Cars — a segment […]

1997 First Editions: MERCEDES C-CLASS

As a young collector in 1997, the #First Edition of the Hot Wheels Mercedes C-Class brought me a new appreciation for great design. It also taught me that color combination & graphics must fit the product — this was something that curated my love for design and led me down the path […]
