The folks over at Borla must be grinning from ear to ear over their licensing deal with Mattel and Hot Wheels. Their brand was placed on the one of the hottest castings in the #’83 Silverado, in the hottest adult collector line: #Car Culture. And, just before that — earlier in 2018 — the Borla brand was introduced to collectors in the most direct way to their hearts: #Treasure Hunts. These are probably two of the most photographed cars of the #2018 Hot Wheels line, but its for good reason… that #Borla livery rocks!

While the Super #Treasure Hunt Mustang is a replica of Borla’s 1:1 2015 Mustang GT, the #Car Culture / Shop Trucks: #’83 Chevy Silverado is strictly a Hot Wheels creation — as far as I know. The livery was designed by Hot Wheels Graphic Designer, Steve Vandervate, fitting oh-so-nice, over-top the #Jun Imai Designed ’83 Silverado casting. Its inclusion as part of the #2018 Hot Wheels #Car Culture line means it receives #Real Riders and premium-deco, which includes front and rear detail.
If you saw the earlier engineering pilots (seen here in images by The Lamley Group), you’ll remember that the #Car Culture / Shop Trucks: #’83 Chevy Silverado was originally suppose to have #Real Riders Turbine Wheels. I’m not exactly sure why the wheel change was made, but the final piece ended up receiving #Real Riders 5-Spoke Wheels. Both look stellar on this release, hence why no one is really talking about it.

Much like the #Advan livery, the predominantly red & black #Borla exhaust livery is a hit with collectors so far. Maybe its instinct as semiotics tells us that we are naturally drawn to the red & black, like moths to the light… or maybe its just that these are some nicely done Borla decos, on two popular #2018 Hot Wheels releases perpetuated by the digital image era. Either way, the folks at Borla have to be happy. As a collector, you are lucky to find either of these at retail, and even the more common variants of the Mustang don’t last long. The #Car Culture / Shop Trucks are at retail now, so now is the best time to try and score the #Silverado wherever #Car Culture cars are sold in your area.
