09/03/2026 — Target will officially be hosting a Hot Wheels Collector Event. The event invite states that you can, “be among the first to open sealed Hot Wheels cases” when the store opens on September 13th. Only 50 stores in the United States will be participating, so you can expect the turnout to be over-saturated with collectors, resellers, and everyone else in-between. Target also posted the list of participating stores so you can view which one is closest to you.

Collectors will also have the chance to, “grab an exclusive Hot Wheels hat with qualifying purchase*”. The hat can be seen in the official Target ad above.

The event is tied to the promotion for the Hot Wheels Collector Edition: ’78 Porsche 935-78 which runs from August 30, 2026, to October 10, 2026.
