Looking at what just showed up the on back of a #Team Transport flatbed: the newest addition to the Hot Wheels #’16 Ford GT Race collection. This time, this #Ford supercar from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is rocking a replica livery that raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2019. It wears the familiar #Castrol livery made famous by the #67 Chip Ganassi Race Team.

The casting itself was just introduced in 2017, but was instantly tooled with a metal base for premium use in the #Replica Entertainment line. It wore a strikingly familiar #Forza Motorsport livery that mimicked the Ford Ecoboost livery driven at Le Mans. One year later, that popular livery was indeed replicated, as the #’16 Ford GT Race appeared in the Circuit Legends series of Car Culture for 2018. Now, with another popular livery in the books, the premium casting collection for the #Ford supercar is coming along quite nicely.

The #Castrol-liveried #Team Transport release is the best one yet from a details perspective. The top of the spoiler features the #Ford logo, along with “Powered by EcoBoost”. The rear is the most complete of all three premium releases as it actually contains the green striping that wraps around from the sides, as well as the air vents, exhaust, and those signature Ford GT taillights.

The #’16 Ford GT Race casting collection now stands at eight thanks to the latest release. It’s a casting that I’ve been into since the first premium release. Fortunately, if you’re also looking to collect this casting — or grab the ones you’re missing — none of the releases have risen steeply in value yet.

As time goes on, it would be great to see more replica liveries on this casting. Given the two we’ve seen already, its certainly a possibility. The casting collection for the #’16 Ford GT Race already looks great, so hopefully, Hot Wheels keeps them coming!

ORANGE TRACK DIECAST 
This casting was a sleeper hit for me. I bought it cause I thought it looked cool at the time, but after sitting on my desk for a couple months it really started to grow on me. It’s so low and sleek and I love the way the casting has the cutout kinda B pillar just like the real car. Great detail they included.
It will be interesting to see how Mattel handles the new Corvette C8. With similar styling cues to the Ford GT it will make a great comparison.
Can’t wait to add this one to my collection.
Where and/or when did the Black one come out? Was that one a regular carded issue or ?? Its the only one I am missing.
