We have a tank! All apologies to the #Tanknator aside, this is the first realistic tank released in a Hot Wheels line since 1997 when we saw the last releases of the Command Tank and Tough Customer tank castings. The #UNSC Scorpion is a brand-new, #First Edition tank casting that is released as part of the #Replica Entertainment / #HALO Series.
Personally, I thought the #Replica Entertainment (formerly Entertainment) line would have been a great line to release a new tank casting with its premium, movie-licensed nature. Had you told me there would be a new tank released in it, I would have assumed it would have been the one from Fast & Furious 6 (2013). While that may still be a possibility in the future, our newest Hot Wheels tank comes to us straight out of the #HALO video game franchise.
As you can see, its a little undersized as its done more to the “Hot Wheels scale” versus 1:64 scale. Its got two rotating turrets — one main turret on top and a smaller one up towards the front. For being a futuristic tank from over 500 years in the future, it still looks amazingly similar to the tanks of today — which of course is great for those that love traditional #Military Vehicles.
While you can see the stationary, metal treads when the tank is upright; one flip of the tank reveals the black metal base and the four #Micro 5-Spoke Wheels that allow for the tank to roll.
It will be interesting to see if the #UNSC Scorpion is released again. This tank would require a retooled, plastic base just to appear in any kind of a less premium line and its wide nature would make it hard to fit in any line with standard packaging. Still, with Hot Wheels gravitating towards gathering licenses for several popular video game franchises in #Gran Turismo, #FORZA Motorsport and now #HALO, who know what the folks at Hot Wheels have in store for us. One thing is for sure though … we have a tank!
