The Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline R32 first appeared in 2002 and some of the subsequent releases have been known to capture high-dollar prices on the secondary market. Sure, some of you may point to the more recent Hot Wheels JDM craze for the reason the prices are so high on some models but others who have been in the game a little longer know that there pretty much always has been an affinity for the R32 model of the Nissan Skyline.
Designed by Hot Wheels designer, Alec Tam, the Hot Wheels casting was based off of the 1990 Nissan Skyline R32. Complete with a metal body, plastic base and plastic spoiler for all of its releases, it is a decent track car as its rectangular body works well with boosters. The R32 might be a little harder to find these days as the last two were released in 2011 as part of the mainline series, Nightburnerz, and in the Racing Kits, Street Race.
This gorgeous neon green Nissan Skyline R32 was released 12 years ago in the 2003 Hot Wheels 100% Preferred / Auto-Affinity Super Street Series. This particular version is one of those subsequent releases of the R32 that have been known to capture higher-prices on the secondary market. Loose, it usually sells for around $15, while the carded version ranges from $20 to $35–when you can find it!
While this car features Chrome Real Rider 5-Spoke Wheels, track performance can be expected to be hampered due to the resistance real riders tend to have on traditional Hot Wheels tracks. Aesthetics-wise, you can see that this car is very bright and its black interior/base & tinted windows only furthers the ability of that neon green to POP!
If its Nissan Skyline you crave and the R32 prices scare you, try searching for the Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34). It is still being released at retail in various lines and prices on the secondary market down seem to spike as high. For a list of all the Nissan Skylines that Hot Wheels makes, see the list below.
