For guys like me, the ’90s don’t seem that long ago as I remember my friend’s dad actually owning a Nissan 180SX. The ’90s we also the start of the #Hot Wheels Race Team in segment series form. Now, we are combining “classic” #JDM vehicles with neo- Hot Wheels Race Team graphics, CRAZY! Man, time flies when you’re having fun and that is precisely what I am having while collecting the #2017 Hot Wheels mainline. Its cars like this #’96 Nissan 180SX Type X that make hunting the pegs at various retail stores around town, fun.
Needless to say, I was excited to add another #Hot Wheels Race Team car to my collection. As one of only five vehicles in the #HW Race Team (2017) series — well, six if you count the $TH Mustang — the disappointment dissipates a little when they come out looking like this and the Fiesta we showcased in April. Add those to the two “Race Team Blue” Hot Wheels Racing Circuit cars I found and 2017 doesn’t look that bad after-all for us race team guys.
Even with the #JDM craze in full force at Hot Wheels, this is the first time I have picked up the #’96 Nissan 180SX Type X casting — as it was a must have for my #Hot Wheels Race Team collection. Now that I have it opened and in front of me, I am really beginning to regret passing up the 2015 & 2016 releases. Sometimes it takes a certain release to turn you onto a casting as it was this metalflake “race team blue” paint that made this casting pop! Even without the Hot Wheels Race Team graphics, this would still be a stunning release as its the car’s low ground clearance & its “sleepy headlights” that give this car a custom look. While we will probably have to wait for a premium release of this car to once again get some detailed taillights, this race team blue brings out the detailed nature of the rear fascia a little more than last year’s white & black releases.
Look for the #HW Race Team (2017) #’96 Nissan 180SX Type X showing up now as part of the #2017 Hot Wheels mainline “K” case assortment. Its a hard one to overlook in this color and with these graphics!
