Hot Wheels has always found success with #VW castings due to their custom nature, which translates well to the brand. The most expensive Hot Wheels car ever is the infamous rear-loading, pink Beach Bomb. One of the top 5 castings of all time, as chosen by the collectors, is the #Volkswagen Drag Bus. So it should come as no surprise, that the #2017 New Model, #Volkswagen T2 Pickup has collectors eager to pickup multiples of this #First Edition casting.

While all different types of collectors are grabbing this release from the pegs, its probably the Hot Wheels customizers that are the most excited group as they can already see this graphic-heavy #Truck as a blank canvas for all their customization dreams. It can be a #Flatbed Hauler for surfboards (and other beach toys), or it can be a unique, custom show-car; in addition to all the other options this truck presents…. but one thing is for sure: customizers (and collectors) love it!

Hot Wheels Volkswagen T2 Pickup from the 2017 HW Art Cars series … also a 2017 New Model (rear view)

The #Volkswagen T2 Pickup is debuting in the #2017 Hot Wheels mainline “J” case assortments, as part of the #HW Art Cars series. In a series such as the HW Art Cars, its easy for graphics to consume the casting, however, the squarish red, black and white graphics are very reminiscent of those found on a skate/surf shop sign, therefore fitting the casting with a true California custom look.

At this point, we know that a white colorway of this release is in the pipeline as it was sneaked at the convention last fall. Don’t be surprised if this year is your only chance to get this casting in the mainline as Hot Wheels has a history of debuting #VW castings in the mainline, only to have them relegated to the premium lines shortly after. Judging by the popularity of this brand-new casting, it surely seems to be the case for the #Volkswagen T2 Pickup.
