This isn’t the first time we have featured the #Nissan Hardbody Truck here as we took a look at the 1997 Blue Streak series release last year. Much to the point of that article, its surprising that this casting isn’t more popular given the vaulted prices in the secondary market regarding most #JDM and #Lifted Trucks castings — and this #Discontinued Casting is essentially both!
The Hot Wheels Nissan Hardbody Truck was originally released in 1988 and ran until 2000. Of all of its releases, its this #First Edition release and the Blue Streak release that are my favorite. Launched as part of the 1988 segment known as “Trailbusters” its this classic “NISSAN 4×4” design that a lot of collectors remember. If your memory recalls a little more blue in the design, a very similar design was a mainline staple from 1989 to 1991. But its the graphics on this half-white / half-red #Trailbusters release that have me craving a modern day rehashing as this would look fabulous on any of the Hot Wheels #Skylines — well, short of the “4×4” text of course.
Personally, I have casually been after the release of the Hardbody for a long time as it typically sells north of $10 on the secondary market. Fortunately, I was able to pick this up from a fellow collector for a mere $3 at the 30th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention earlier this month. As you can see, its blister fresh in all its red, white & blue glory!
