The Gran Turismo series hype has officially settled as the “gotta-have-it-nows” are on to the next hottest thing. It seems as though demand has leveled off as this series was not only available through online retailers, but also at Walmart and its subsidiaries outside the United States. With the 5-car Entertainment line Gran Turismo series imminent, its apparent we haven’t seen the last of the super cars this series brings. #ViperWeek continues with this black-as-night, metalflake beauty.
Listed as an ’05 Dodge Viper SRT10 on the blister card, the Hot Wheels #’06 Dodge Viper Coupe casting has been around for the last 10 years — since 2006. While this 2nd generation #Viper lacks the curvature the 1st and 3rd gens have, this elongated Viper excels on the track –the real kind and of the orange nature. My personal favorite detail on the casting are the aggressive hood louvers.
The design of the casting is complimented by the graphic designer’s decision to place two large orange racing stripes from front to back on this release. The contrast is nice in this case and it really does this casting a favor by highlighting its long body and splitting those sinister louvers. Another cool detail about this release is the #06 on the sides, which is drawn from the “06” in the ’06 Dodge Viper Coupe casting name. Numbered graphics with numbers from the casting name were a common practice in the Gran Turismo series as most of the cars in this series had them. Lastly, another cool detail about this release are the detailed headlights. The graphic and tampo efforts were executed phenomenally as its the headlights that give the casting a menacing and premium look.
