The Hot Wheels design team has been known to crank out from kooky designs from time to time. This Kevin Cao design named, Cloak and Dagger, is definitely on of them. Almost taking on the ghostly form due to its translucent plastic body that pops off, the Cloak and Dagger has a bio-mechanical alien interior. Both can be seen apart >> HERE. It would be fun to hear Kevin’s take of what his mindset was when designing this mysterious vehicle.
Originally released in 2007 as part of the 2007 New Models Series (shown below), the Cloak and Dagger has had several mainline releases since and came close to actually representing a ghost in its 2011 Halloween 5-Pack release. This is one cool design and if you get your hands on one, make sure to rip it out of the packaging, take the top off and give it a run on the track.
UPDATE: 1/2/2017 — Per Kevin via his Instagram post today:
Fun Fact: the original idea was to make the body out of rubber so it would peel off the chassis like a real cloak.
