By now you’ve probably seen the #2019 Hot Wheels #Fast & Furious 5-Pack at one of your local retailers. If not, there are still plenty for sale on Amazon for $5.49 with free shipping. In regards to the 5-pack, I’ve read a lot of comments from collectors stating that they were disappointed by the 5-pack being essentially repeats of Fast & Furious cars that Hot Wheels has done before. I’m not sure how many collectors were deterred from buying it, but those of you that are #Variations collectors shouldn’t. EVERY CAR in this 5-pack is unique to this 5-pack, meaning that even though that particular Fast & Furious car has been done before, it varies from its previous release(s) — and no, I don’t count shade variations.

First off, since Hot Wheels 5-Packs are now manufactured at the Hot Wheels plant in Indonesia, all five of these cars have “Indonesia” on their base, making them different from any prior variants. Thats cool and all as a lot of collectors collect base variations — especially bases involving changes in country of origin. Beyond that, ALL FIVE of these 5-pack cars vary in at least one an additional way.

Before I get to that however, lets quickly break down the #Fast & Furious 5-Pack itself. The detail I really liked is that it identifies what movie each car is from on the left-side flap. The cars in this 5-pack are the ’61 Impala (The Fate of the Furious – 2017), ’72 Ford Torino Grand Sport (Fast & Furious – 2009), Corvette Grand Sport Roadster (Fast Five – 2011), ’70 Ford Escort RS1600 (Fast & Furious 6 – 2013), and the ’70 Chevelle SS (Fast & Furious – 2009).

Working our way from the top, down, we start with the lone car that hadn’t been released until this year: the ’61 Impala. This car was released concurrently with the one in the Walmart series. Collectors with a keen eye have noticed that the one the Walmart series has #Open-Hole 5-Spoke Wheels whereas the 5-Pack variant has #Muscle Car 5-Spoke Wheels. BUT, if you have an even sharper eye, you’ll notice the interiors are different colors: white versus dark gray. Add that to the fact that the base on the Walmart F&F one says, “Thailand” versus the 5-Pack variant which of course has, “Indonesia”.

Next up is the ’72 Ford Torino Grand Sport. The shades of metalflake green paint vary quite a bit, as do the windows which go from clear to light smoke to dark smoke. That makes sense as all three were produced in different countries/factories (Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia). The most distinct difference between all three variants however, is the wheels: #Japanese 5-Spoke Wheels to #PR5 Wheels to #Muscle Car 5-Spoke Wheels.

Just like the Torino, the Corvette Grand Sport Roadster has three different paint shades due to the fact that all three were also done in different countries. Above the base, the mainline variant and the Walmart basic series variant are essentially the same with both wearing #PR5 Wheels. The 5-Pack variant joins the other two but differentiates itself by wearing #Wire-Spoke Wheels.

The ’70 Ford Escort RS1600 was the one model in this 5-Pack that I had thought was the closest thing to a repeat we’d get. It matches the mainline variant in almost every detail beyond the country of origin, however, once I got this 5-Pack variant out of the package, I noticed the dark smoke tint to the windows / front lights piece in comparison to the clear piece on the mainline variant of this car. This car that was seen in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) has also been done in the Walmart basic Fast & Furious series in addition to the premium one that came out earlier this year in the first mix of the new #Fast & Furious premium line. It sounds like this won’t be the last we see of this one as its also slated to wear spectraflame ice blue and this deco as part of the Hot Wheels iD / HW Screen Time series.

Lastly, we have the ’70 Chevelle SS which feels like its been done every time there is a new wave of #Fast & Furious cars. In reality, this is the 4th iteration of the older ’70 Chevelle SS casting as the premium ones from earlier this year are a new casting. As similar as the four releases do look, all feature unique wheels, and the paint does vary a lot.

So there you have it! All five cars from the 2019 #Fast & Furious 5-Pack are indeed unique to the 5-Pack despite looking very similar to prior releases. If you’re trying to collect every Hot wheels #Fast & Furious car, this 5-pack is a must-have. If you’re just trying to get one of each Hot Wheels car from Fast & Furious, this is a good 5-pack to get because you don’t have to chase down some of the earlier releases then.
