If you’ve been keeping up here on OTD, you saw that there is a new #Batman Vehicles Series appearing at Walmart. Judging by the initial reaction by collectors, there isn’t much excitement over the series. Its understandable as there is only so much you can do to some of the #Batmobiles that typically appear in the basic lines. Enter the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) #’11 Dodge Charger R/T. Its a great curveball in the Batman Vehicles series, just like the Lamborghini Murcielago was, last year. Its one of the #Police Cars from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
Observant collectors will notice that this GCPD #Police Car is eerily similar to the one that was released as part of the Batman v Superman 5-Pack in 2016. However, its the intelligent collectors that know that since that run was three years ago, there are bound to be some differences.
The graphics on the two vary ever-so-slightly, but there are no distinct differences — at least as far as I can tell. Beyond that, when you compare the two side-by-side, you’ll notice that the 2016 release has light blue windows & a gray interior, versus the 2019 release which has darker blue windows & a black interior.

The largest difference between the two may require a second look — I know I didn’t notice it at first. Can you tell what else is different (without looking down)?

If you said metal vs. plastic body, then you are correct. The 2016 release has a painted gloss black metal body, whereas the 2019 release has a black plastic body. The difference is almost undetectable upon first glance. So since the body and/or the base has to be diecast metal in a mainline release, does that mean the base is metal on the new release? It sure does…
Overall, yes, its a #TV & Movie Car that has been redone so it probably won’t be snatched up at the pegs — unlike that chrome ’89 Batmobile *murmurs* from this series. Its okay though as maybe this one is more for the Hot Wheels collector who fancies the same car produced in a similar, yet very distinctive manner. Or heck, maybe you just love #Police Cars… or #Batman… or, you get the point. Happy hunting! The #Batman Vehicles Series is a #Walmart Exclusive, so you may want to start there.
