10/22/2018 — The long-awaited, Hot Wheels #Fast & Furious premium line is finally coming to stores in December. Collectors had been asking for cars from the popular movie franchise since the first movie was released back in 2001. In 2013, Hot Wheels obliged with a basic-level #Walmart Exclusive series that has been released every year, since. There have also been some models with mainline releases. So far, the only Fast & Furious cars that have received premium treatment have been the handful that have been released in the #Replica Entertainment line.
Mattel did try a stand-alone, non-Hot-Wheels-branded #Fast & Furious line in 2017 but it seems Hot Wheels collectors did not gravitate towards the line of 1:55 scale cars. That line will continue to produced, but it is expected the new #2019 Hot Wheels premium line will do a lot better.
I believe I read that there will be five mixes for 2019. Each mix will be a new series of five cars, with the first being titled as “Fast Imports”. Its my understanding that there will be some new tools making their debut in this line, however, with the first five we do see a couple that have been released in the #Fast & Furious basic line before. The car that seems to be generating the most excitement is Han’s “Mona Lisa” Silvia from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006). It uses the new #Nissan Silvia S15 casting which just made its debut in the 2018 Replica Entertainment / FORZA Motorsport series.
It will be exciting to see what else will appear in this new line. Collectors have been dreaming of a wider assortment of Hot Wheels #Fast & Furious cars (ie. Brian’s Green Eclipse, Jesse’s White Jetta, and the F-Bomb ’70 Camaro) so we will see if this line accomplishes the creation of those tools. One thing is for sure though, this line looks great and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Below is the first series: Fast Imports.
