The small, but mighty Hot Wheels #’85 Honda City Turbo II made its #First Edition appearance earlier this year as part of the #2018 Hot Wheels “C” case assortment. Its a car that the team of Hot Wheels designers — mostly Jun Imai & Ryu Asada — had planned on bringing to the Hot Wheels line for years, and both were ecstatic to finally so. Ryu is a huge #Honda guy, designing several and owning both a 1:1 S2000 and a NSX. He also has a decent size collection of Honda City toys and aspires to one day own a real one.
This 2018 #HW Speed Graphics Series release wears a familiar livery as its the companion of the #First Edition of the Honda Odyssey which appeared in 2016. Judging by comments made by both, Jun and Ryu on Instagram, it appears the #’85 Honda City Turbo II was actually planned some time around the Odyssey’s release. So far its a Honda Turbo livery of two, but man, do they make a great pair!

Hot Wheels ’85 Honda City Turbo II from the 2018 HW Speed Graphics Series … also a 2018 New Model and the Honda Odyssey, a 2016 New Model
The #’85 Honda City Turbo II is your quintessential #Compact Car — and, of course, being that its so small, Ryu thought it would be fun to add not one motocompo scooter in the back, but three motocompo #Bikes in Tow. After all, its a scooter that was essentially designed to fit in the back of both the Honda City and the Daily back in the early ’80s.
Though this release wore an existing livery, it has the distinct honor of being the first Hot Wheels vehicle to wear the brand-new #Aero Disc Wheels. So far we’ve only seen these wheels on a handful of Hot Wheels, but it does appear that they will only come in this small size.
For the last few months, this white colorway of the #HW Speed Graphics Series #’85 Honda City Turbo II has been its only release. However, with the #2018 Hot Wheels “H” case hitting stores in the U.S. now, collectors can expect to find a second colorway of this release in black. Look for it now to complete your ’85 Honda City Turbo II collection.
