In what can pretty much be called the most successful #Mail-In in Hot Wheels history, the #Datsun Bluebird 510 had some collectors buying mainline cars by the thousands. Since this #2017 Collector Edition was revealed, collectors had been eagerly awaiting the promotional period that started on February 12, 2017 and just ended on March 31. Since this was a #Kmart Exclusive promotion to coincide with the Kmart Collectors Day on February the 18th, many collectors loaded up on the Kmart exclusive 36-ct. cases from the event while others helped clear the inventory at Kmart.com.

It is this kind of successful promotion that will definitely turn the heads of the folks at Mattel towards producing more #JDM product and will surely make a retailer like Kmart happy. This promotion was so successful that, in fact, a second run of this release had to be ordered as demand far exceeded the supply which is thought to have been in the tens of thousands. You can bet we will see the #Datsun Bluebird 510 in some kind of #Promotional Vehicle form again.

As far as the car itself, the design of this release has a very sporty look to it — a common graphic scheme that will be used on all the upcoming #2017 Collector Editions. The detailing around the window frames, side vents, and taillights are nice touches that help improve the overall aesthetics of the release, however, for me, its that two-tone paint job that really sets it off. The black top and spectraflame(ish) yellow-green sides create a nice color combo … one that I don’t think we’ve really seen before in a Hot Wheels car before. This also marks the first time the #Datsun Bluebird 510 casting has worn #Real Riders 4-Spoke Wheels — a wheel/tire combo that was made specifically for these types of #JDM cars.

While the promotional period to obtain this release is now over, be sure to not miss out on this one if you like it as most releases of the #Datsun Bluebird 510 has seen steady increases in value and you may end up forking over some serious dough in the future. Fortunately, the surplus right now should continue to drive the price down for the next couple months so now is definitely the time to buy if you are looking to add this one to your collection.
