There is definitely no shortage of #Muscle Cars in the Hot Wheels lineup. However, with the wealth of castings in this genre of car, there are a few castings that manage to be under-utilized. Specifically, the #Large and in Charger has only been used four times since its introduction in 2008 — with these two coming that year.
Designed as a modern take on the #Hot Wheels Spoilers, the Large and in Charger is a play on the phrase, “large and in charge” even though the base actually reads Custom ’69 Dodge Charger. Despite being a new casting in 2008, this #Charger was built based off the Custom Charger from the Redline days of 1969 as more of a “2B” situation arose after the “2A” Custom Charger was retooled to be included in the 2008 HotWheelsCollectors.com Series 7 / Real Riders Series. This Custom ’69 Dodge Charger is not to be confused with the ’69 Dodge Charger casting that was first released as part of the 2004 First Editions.
Although these #Variations wore enamel paint, the vibrancy of the colors really made these cars stand out, along with the #Redlines on the tires. That was essentially the #Hot Wheels Spoilers in a nutshell as the 1970s releases were #Muscle Cars with #Blown Engines, #Spectraflame Paint and Redlines. They were presumably fast on track and meant to “spoil” the day for anyone that tried to race against them.
The green variation was released on a single Since ’68 blister card as part of the Muscle Cars Series in late 2007 (and well into 2008). This was technically the #First Edition of this casting. The yellow variation came along in 2008 as part of the second Since ’68 Muscle Cars 4-Pack that year. Neither car appears to be hard to find at this point so getting the green one for under $5 and the yellow one for under $10 is certainly the expectation.
