Homer J. Simpson and this little pink sedan have been through an awful lot since The Simpsons began in 1989. The car has been wrecked countless times including one of my favorite Simpson’s episodes ever. In the Season 2 episode titled, “Bart the Daredevil”, the Simpsons go to see “Truckasaurus” and Homer drives this pink sedan right into the middle of the arena, gets caught in the mud and Truckasaurus proceeds to start “eating” the car with the Simpsons inside! Truckasaurus is eventually shut down and the family is saved as the car is destroyed. The episode continues as Bart wants to become a daredevil after seeing his daredevil hero end up in the hospital after a death-defying trick. The fabulous thing about cartoons though, is that in the next episode, everything essentially resets and you see this sedan once again.

The Hot Wheels casting named  “The Simpsons Family Car” (seen below) was designed nicely to even include the crumpled fender on the front-driver’s side. While its missing the bent coat-hanger antenna,  its a feature that is very hard to pull off at this scale. The back of the 2015 card says that this is a:

Four-door sedan with driver’s side airbag, column shifter, 8-track radio and permanently crumpled front fender. Driven by Homer J. Simpson, it’s believed to have been built in Croatia from Soviet Tanks.

The casting also seems to come up a little short back end, but this has not phased collectors as this casting has received rave reviews. Most noticeably, this sedan has been flying off the pegshooks of local retailers making for another successful Simpsons vehicle release–the first being “The Homer” which was released last year. Look for this one at your local retailers now. This collector believes is only a matter of time before we see a Truckasaurus release!

This car goes great with The Homer we also showcased. So far these are the only two castings from The Simpsons that Hot Wheels makes, but it isn’t the first time Hot Wheels released a Simpsons-themed car.
