6/16/2019 — Thanks to my friend, Tim (@tandphwguide), we now know that the Hot Wheels Mario Kart cars are out! He found the set at his local Target store in Houston. He said there were no peghooks for them yet, but he checked with an employee who approved him to purchase these as the box had no street date restriction. They are selling at the $5 price-point and should be at other retailers soon.

The first wave comes eight to a box and the case breakdown is as follows: 2x Mario, 1x Luigi, 1x Peach, 2x Yoshi and 2x Bowser.

As you can see, there are four karts in this wave, and five characters. The four karts are: Standard Kart, Mach 8, B Dasher and Badwagon. It appears as future releases will feature the characters in different karts — in addition to more characters from the beloved video game franchise. Announcement of this line was announced way back in July 2018, but this is really the first thing we’ve seen/heard of the Hot Wheels Mario Kart line since.
