The deep-dive into the brand-new, Hot Wheels #Fast & Furious premium line continues. OTD has already gave you an introductory look at the line AND went in depth on how truly awesome the new Nissan Skyline R34 release truly is. NOW, we look at what will surely be the star of the #Fast & Furious / Fast Imports series when it is all said and done: the #Nissan Silvia S15.

The Hot Wheels #Nissan Silvia S15 is a casting that first appeared at the end of 2018 as part of the Replica Entertainment / FORZA Motorsport series. Its one of the only Hot Wheels cars to have been designed by a member of the Hot Wheels Marketing team as #Jimmy Liu Designed this glorious #Silvia. As a Marketing Manager for the collector lines, its clear Jimmy had the foresight to know this casting would be ideal for the upcoming #Fast & Furious line.

In the third installment of the #Fast & Furious movie franchise, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), a car-crazed teenager named Sean moves to Tokyo to avoid going to jail in the United States. Its there that he is enamored by the local drift scene. Overconfident in his abilities, he borrows Han’s “Mona Lisa” #Nissan Silvia S15 to compete in a race, only to repeatedly crash the car throughout it.
While the #Silvia didn’t fare too well in the movie, its distinct royal blue paint and wrap-around orange & white striped graphics had collectors clamoring for this beauty for the last 13 years. Hot Wheels had an earlier Nissan Silvia S15 casting from 2006 to 2011, yet by the time Hot Wheels got the Fast & Furious license in 2013, that casting had apparently been discontinued.

Han’s “Mona Lisa” #Nissan Silvia S15 is the 4th Hot Wheels car to be released from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), with the others being D.K.’s #Nissan 350Z, Sean’s #’67 Mustang and Dom’s #’70 Plymouth Roadrunner. With the other three being released in the Walmart-Exclusive, #Fast & Furious basic line, the #Silvia is the only one of the group to receive a premium treatment — thus far.
As I eluded to in the Nissan Skyline R34 article the other day, the #Fast & Furious premium line was long overdue from Hot Wheels so its great to see it finally come into fruition. I firmly believe the #Nissan Silvia S15 will be one of the more popular cars from this line when it is all said and done, but there are some epic releases still to come over the next four mixes. However, the tone is set, and the #Fast & Furious / Fast Imports series did a great job at setting it.

Hot Wheels 2019 Fast & Furious / Fast Imports series: Nissan Silvia (S15), Lamborghini Gallardo LLP 570-4 Superleggera, ’70 Ford Escort RS 1600, Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), and Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32)
Will we see other cars from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) this year? Probably not in the premium line. Personally, I would like to see Han’s RX-7, Neela’s RX-8 and even Twinkie’s Volkswagen Touran — yes, the “hulk car”. It may be a while before we see the first two, with the Touran being a long shot to ever being made, but one thing is for sure… we have our “Mona Lisa” finally and this car will not only sit proudly in my own #Fast & Furious collection, but in Hot Wheels collectors’ collections for years to come. So glad this one was made.
