Star Wars Planets: FAST FISH

The #Star Wars Planets series was a neat, little 8-car series in which each of the 8 vehicles featured card art and graphics unique to a certain Star Wars planet. This series was exclusive to Walmart and came in dump bins with a street date of September 30, 2016 — the same day as the first wave of Hot Wheels #Carships and other merchandise for the movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). While some collectors will be quick to point to this series as only featuring #Unlicensed Hot Wheels castings, others have been in awe over the astonishing artwork on the blister cards and that adorns the panels of the eight vehicles.

The car graphics were designed by Hot Wheels graphic designer, Mike McClone. Known as the Hot Wheels “flame guy” to some, I had a great experience talking to Mike at the 30th Annual Collectors Convention. There, he said that the #Star Wars Planets series was one of his favorite projects to date — this was all while he was signing an autograph sheet of the eight vehicles in the series.

Of those eight vehicles, the #Fast Fish would have to be a personal favorite. Featuring the graphics of the lava planet known as Mustafar, this futuristic interpretation of a Plymouth Barracuda looks like it is straight out of the lava itself. The bright orange and dark red seem to pop right off of the car’s matte black body. The best part??? Well, thats Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in a light saber duel on both sides of the car — straight out of Star War: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) >>> See Video Below.
