A true sign that the #2016 Hot Wheels have been some of the best yet? This release of the Custom ’62 Chevy Truck in the brand-new HW Flames 5-Pack. Really, the whole 5-Pack is great … well, aside from the Chrysler Pronto. But I digress.
This #Lowered Truck has never looked better in my opinion. The metalflake green paint just pops and the white-hot flames & orange surfboard really scream California Custom. Speaking of the surfboard … traditionally, multi-pack vehicles (including those found in 5-packs) don’t have pieces that are considered a choking hazard as its sometimes hard to incorporate the warning on the lack of packaging. So needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise to see this one show up with a surfboard in the back as a #5-Pack Exclusive.
The Hot Wheels Custom ’62 Chevy Truck was originally released in 2008 and has been released every year since. Designed by Hot Wheels designer Rob Matthes, this truck instantly became a hit with collectors so its easy to see why its been released steadily for the last 8 years. Look for this version (as part of the HW Flames 5-Pack) at retailers now.

RELEASE DETAILS: Metalflake Green Body (metal). Yellow Tinted Windows. Chrome Interior/Bed. Orange Surfboard. Yellow-Rim, Black Open-Hole 5-Spoke (OH5) Wheels. Black Base (plastic). Made in Thailand. Toy# DJD22. Released in 2016 as part of the HW Flames 5-Pack.
UPDATE 07/29/2016 — Look for the new variation of the HW Flames 5-Pack release. The Custom ’62 Chevy Truck casting has been retooled to now have a sunroof, smaller chrome surfboard (molded as part of the truck bed), and the front grill extends down to the base.
