The BMW Series was released earlier this month at Walmart stores worldwide. In this 8-Car Set — which is not to be confused with the 5-Car mainline series of the same name — each of the eight BMW vehicles came on a black blister card with unique illustrations of each vehicle. They appeared as part of a dump bin promotion exclusively at Walmart.

In this set of 8, the one that stood out most to me was the compact #BMW 2002. The metalflake dark green paint job with yellow stripes typically does not look good on many cars but for some reason, fits the BMW 2002 well.

The Hot Wheels #BMW 2002 casting has been around since its introduction in the 2012 New Models and has certainly ramped up in terms of popularity in recent years — which comes as no surprise as it is one of several #Jun Imai Designs to appeal to a niche group of foreign car collectors. Its first premium release came in 2015 when it received a metal base (to match its metal body) to be part of the Heritage / Real Riders series.
