HotWheelsCollectors.com Series 5: DAIRY DELIVERY

The Dairy Delivery has been a collector favorite since its first appearance as part of the 1998 First Editions. This retro milk truck rides low, features a raked stance, and has plenty of real estate for graphics.

In 2006, popularity of the Dairy Delivery reached an all-time high. The tool used to cast it must have been working overtime as it was featured in the Hot Wheels Classics, Flying Customs line, 2006 Treasure Hunts, Mystery Mail-In Series, Holiday Rods, HWC Special Edition & this HWC Series 5 release, all in that year. Frankly, I don’t understand how the tool(s) survived that schedule!

On May 9th, 2006, HotWheelsCollectors.com sold the Dairy Delivery as part of its Series 5 Real Riders lineup. Limited to 11,000 pieces and priced at $14.99 (plus s&p), this Dairy sold quickly as it was a hot casting in a #Hot Wheels Race Team deco. Dairy collectors, Race Team collectors, Real Rider fans and profiteers were all logged in and ready to buy before that 9am (PST) sale time, on that Tuesday in May.

As you can see below, this release is what the HWC and RLC are all about — high-end Hot Wheels cars that feel like they should be anywhere from in a museum, to being played with and enjoyed by kids. In addition to the gorgeous spectraflame race team blue paint and the Hot Wheels Race Team deco featured on this release, the Dairy also featured the #38 and “G.Swisher” above the doors. The #38 represented the 38th anniversary of Hot Wheels in 2006. This sequential numbering system remained on HWC Race Team releases until 2009 — with the Baja Bruiser wearing #41 that year. The “G.Swisher” stood for Gary Swisher who was the Vice President of Wheels Design at Mattel. As the V.P. of Wheels Design he oversaw all brands that had vehicles which included, but as not limited to, Hot Wheels, Tyco and Matchbox.

The Hot Wheels Dairy Delivery continues to be a popular casting among collectors. With over 50 unique versions of the Dairy, collectors have gone mad trying to cover all the variations of it as it still remains one of the most popular vehicles in the Hot Wheels lineup.
