On a day full of Door-Busters, we bring you a HULK-BUSTER…the Hulkbuster Iron Man that is. Yesterday we gave thanks to the Iron Man casting which paved the way for this colossal beast. As one of the largest Hot Wheels castings out there, the Hulkbuster Iron Man is designed to hold the Iron Man character car exclusively. While that’s not to say other Hot Wheels won’t fit on this rather large bed, its exclusive fit makes for a symbiotic relationship between to two castings.
As big as this casting is, you would think it would “hulk smash” anything in its way, unfortunately the majority of the casting is made up of plastic. Apart from the metalflake red part of the cab, every other piece you see is plastic (even the base). Throw in the Iron Man casting however, and this vehicle definitely bulks up in terms of weight.
In terms of scarcity, the Hulkbuster Iron Man seems to be kind of rare as not many have been finding it and the cases have only had one per case. I was lucky enough to find mine stashed on the bottom shelf of the Hot Wheels section at my local Walmart. Immediately after buying it, I had sought out to buy the Iron Man casting so I could see how well the fit was and I couldn’t have been happier. Had it not been for the Hulkbuster, I probably would have never bought (or featured Iron Man) as I had passed on it numerous times before. Hats off to Hot Wheels designer Dmitriy Shakhmatov for designing the Hulkbuster to encase Bryan Benedict’s Iron Man.
