Anyone remember K•B Toys? Remember when they used to be in your local mall? The stores were always a tease as they carried a limited number of mainline Hot Wheels at the $1.29 price point which led to the stock rarely rolling over. Ultimately, this small-scale failure [pun not intended] paints the larger picture as to why K•B Toys is no longer in business.
Like any Hot Wheels retailer, there are often reasons to continue going to them. One of those reasons is exclusivity. Sometimes you can find sets or special lines only available to that specific retailer. The 1999 Cops Rods Series 1 one was of them. Featuring vehicles with Real Rider wheels and authentic police department graphics, the Cop Rods were extremely popular however the $5.99 price point which left the less desirable castings clogging the pegs, led to the demise of the line after only 2 years.
Living in Wisconsin at the time, the Dairy Delivery (Madison Police) and ’32 Ford (Milwaukee Police) were two of the hardest vehicles to find. Couple that with the fact that the Dairy Delivery was a hot, new casting at the time, made it really hard to obtain the one you see below.
Fortunately, in 2015, you can get one of these for not much than retail shipped directly to your front door. On average, this release sells for $10-shipped (when carded). Its a great release and one you should add if you collect the #Cop Rods Series, the #Dairy Delivery casting, #Police Vehicles or just have roots in the great state of #Wisconsin.
RELEASE DETAILS: Pearl White Body (metal). Clear Windows. Black Interior. Black Base (plastic). Made in Malaysia. Toy# 23448. Released in 1999 in the Cop Rods Series 1 that was sold exclusively at K•B Toys.
