Entertainment Line: Anchorman CUSTOM ’77 DODGE VAN

“News Team, ASSEMBLE!” If you came here thinking this article was going to be quote-laden with Anchroman quotes, you are correct!

“Great Odin’s Raven!” this is a good piece. While the Hot Wheels Custom ’77 Dodge Van may not be the best representation of the actual van from the 2004 movie, Anchorman, it does have something unique. See that custom roof piece on top? That one with the satellite dish and rails? That is a custom piece made exclusively for this release. No other versions of this casting have featured that. On the normal metal-bodied version of this casting, there is a window on top of the van that stretches the length of it where two NOS bottles are visible next to seats that have 4-point harnesses. The plastic-bodied version of this casting has a closed-off roof with grooves in it. “Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that got out of hand, fast!”

This release also features a metal body, metal chassis & real rider tires–all things that give collectors, “afternoon delight”. This isn’t the first time we have seen the Custom ’77 Dodge Van in the entertainment line, nor is it the first time we have seen a Will Ferrell movie in the entertainment line. Coincidentally, The Custom ’77 Dodge Van was also the casting of choice for the black van from the 2003 movie, Old School.

“For the entire Channel 4 news team, I’m Ron Burgundy, stay classy, San Diego.”
