HW Performance: ’09 Corvette ZR1

Gulf Racing is represented once again in the Hot Wheels line as this ’09 Corvette ZR1 from the HW Performance Series wears the color scheme perfectly. This version of the ’09 Corvette ZR1 has just hit stores and collectors have already begun snatching these up. Can we blame them? This car looks fabulous.

Gulf Racing and Hot Wheels are no strangers. Despite already producing quite a few Hot Wheels in the Gulf color scheme, Hot Wheels released a 4-Car Gulf Racing Series as an exclusive for their Red Line Clubs members in 2013. The series included a Ford GT-40, Porsche 917K, and a Volkswagen Drag Bus & Drag Beetle, all in Spectraflame Aqua.

The Hot Wheels ’09 Corvette ZR1 is no stranger to looking good as the casting itself is a stylish, well-proportioned homerun. It even has the authentic “window” in the hood so you can have a view of the engine without checking underneath the hood (hood does not open). Introduced in 2008 as part of the 2008 New Models Series, this high-end Corvette has already had some great releases as well as some harder to find ones such as the Yellow Kmart Collector’s Day Exclusive, Super Treasure Hunt version and the Blue Multi-Pack Exclusive. This Corvette may have been overlooked since Hot Wheels has released the ’12 Corvette Z06 & ’14 Corvette Stingray after it, but don’t sleep on this one as it is one good-looking model! So good looking, that it deserves another look. Lets take a look at the 2009 Faster Than Ever Series version of the ’09 Corvette ZR1, tomorrow.
