As one of the most glamorous trucks of all-time, the 1956 Ford looks great at all trim levels on all scales. So much so, that Hot Wheels has done several castings of the ’56 Ford. Living in Hot Wheels nostalgia, is the Hi-Tail Hauler which is known for the two bikes the ride in its trunk. The ’56 Ford Panel has definitely given the Hi-Tailer Hauler a run for its money in terms of popularity. The new kid on the block would be this Custom ’56 Ford F-100.
After making its debut in the 2008 Hot Wheels Ultra Hots line with a tilt-open hood, the F-100’s hood was sealed shut the very next year. This Custom ’56 Ford F-100’s inclusion in the 2013 HW Showroom / Heat Fleet Series was, and continues to be, its only Hot Wheels mainline release.
In an era where Hot Wheels mainline cars contain either a plastic body or a plastic base (combined with a metal counterpart), its hard to find the few castings that slip through the cracks, however, this casting was released with a metal body AND a metal base — making it a great find! Also, be on the lookout for the #ZAMAC version as well.
Shout out to my friend Pirate from Alabama! Here’s the Custom ’56 Ford F-100 for you, buddy.
