UNBOXING: Hot Wheels 2026 Red Line Club 1988 Porsche 911 Targa Turbo — Will I get the CHASE?

The wait is over! The brand-new, ’88 Porsche 911 Targa Turbo — which instantly sold out on Tuesday — has arrived. Thanks to RLC Overdrive, I was able to get my allotted two, delivered a day after the sale. The hope in ordering two would be to get one standard release in spectraflame root beer brown and one chase variant in chrome.

Judging by social media posts, other collectors who have RLC overdrive have been receiving both with much success. However, the chase variant is limited to 5,000 pieces so not everyone who orders two will get it. The ’88 Porsche 911 Targa Turbo is the first RLC release (of four this year) to have one of these controversial chase counterparts. Clearly the idea — coupled with a hot, new casting — led to a sell out. Is it truly a good idea though? Let’s take a look at my success with this drop and discuss if this is a good or a bad thing for the RLC.
