Hot Wheels 2024 Car Culture / World Tour “A” CASE REPORT

Technically the first Hot Wheels #Car Culture mix for 2024, World Tour hits collectors with an impressive set list of 5 vehicles, including three that are seeing the premium-level treatment for the first time. Collectors have mentioned that this set doesn’t seem very worldly since four out of the five vehicles are by European auto manufacturers. I unboxed one of these 10-count cases on the OTD YouTube Channel, and do mention how if we see a sequel to this series, it would be nice to have more continents represented. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia should be represented in the 5 slots — omitting Africa and Antarctica since Hot Wheels doesn’t make any brands from those continents. With that said, the casting selection is pretty solid, it just isn’t as worldly as some would like.

The Alfa Romeo GTV6 3.0 goes premium after debuting in the mainline last year. It is also the casting in this mix that has the #Chase variant in all black. Both versions are clean since the mainline had the racing deco on it.

Speaking of cars to debut last year, and coming up to the collector big leagues in premium, is the ’82 Toyota Supra. Though it technically wasn’t a 2023 New Model — because it was consider a “re-tool” of the old casting — this casting is nothing like the old one. I’m pretty sure the only thing that was carried over were the dimensions of the car. This new casting has a ton of detail and personality with the one “winking” headlight popped up. Last year it was met with much collector acclaim and this release in white appears that it will be the first one gone from the pegs, outside of the chase. It is also the only car from this mix from an auto manufacturer outside of Europe.

The Volkswagen Golf MK7 returns to #Car Culture in blue with a Euro-stripe. It is arguably the best release of this casting to date. Apparently the color was suggested by a certain Hot Wheels Design Team manager.

Another Volkswagen is in this mix, however, it is not from Europe — despite VW being a German manufacturer. The #Volkswagen Brasilia was built in Mexico and sold only in Brazil. So this one is meant to represent Brazil here on the Car Culture / World Tour. Hot Wheels packaging designer, Julian Koiles mentioned that since the flag is a little more complex in design, a subsequently would involve permission/licensing to use, only the colors were used. That may seem like a technicality, but what shouldn’t be overlooked, is the fact that the VW Brasilia has returned after 9 years. The casting hasn’t been produced since 2015 and has never gone premium so it’s great to see it return, especially in this fashion.

Lastly, the Audi S4 quattro returns in silver. The casting has been a #Car Culture staple with three of it’s four releases coming in the line. Blue, yellow, and now silver are all factory colors of this car so it seems only natural that red is next.

Hot Wheels #Car Culture cases (FPY86) contain only 10 vehicles, unlike Hot Wheels basics cases which have 72. In this mix, you are guaranteed to get all 5 cars in the series. There are two variants of the case — with or without chase piece. In a standard case (without chase) you will get two of each vehicle. In a case with a chase, you will have the chase piece inserted for the second piece of it’s casting counterpart.

Below you’ll find the case list — all of which are seen in this video and in the images below.
