Prediction: The PORSCHE 911 TURBO (930) from the Nationals Finale will launch the vintage Porsche craze

I have a feeling. The feeling is such: the Hot Wheels #Porsche 911 Turbo (930) will rank among the top 10 Hot Wheels to collect over the next decade. As far as Hot Wheels Porsches go, the #Porsche 993 GT2 is the hottest Porsche — of the last decade. This new(er) model introduced in 2022 will eventually unseat it — if it hasn’t already — and launch a Hot Wheels vintage Porsche craze among collectors. The legend starts here…

The #Porsche 911 Turbo (930) — listed as “Porsche 930” for this release — debuted last year in the #Replica Entertainment line with a deco from the Cyberpunk 2077 video game (shown below in silver). The highly-custom deco features a two-tone paint scheme separated by a red stripe. The headlights are yellow while a “PORSCHE” banner adorns the windshield. The deco was good, and the release was not very easy to find, but it is by no means a deco you’ll find a vintage #Porsche fan loving.

Enter the all-black release from this year’s #23rd Annual Nationals Convention that was released on Saturday, April 8th, at the #Finale event. The color alone gives the casting a sleek, stealthy look, while the minimal amount of graphics should appeal to the “clean look” crowd. Beyond the standard Porsche badging, only a Hot Wheels logo is on the sides while an event insignia graces the back end.

Vintage #Porsches have sold well for the Hot Wheels brand over the last few years. That is already a fact! From 1970 to 2007, there weren’t a ton of Hot Wheels Porsches — only the #Porsche 917K (introduced in 1999) seems to garner any real attention with today’s collectors. It’s the Hot Wheels Porsche castings from 2010 to present that have really hit the mark with collectors. Why is that?

For one, from 1970 to 2007 (38 years) there were only 20 Hot Wheels Porsche released, with several starting off as #100% Hot Wheels castings — including the aforementioned 917K casting. From 2010 to 2022 however — only 13 model years — 31 new #Porsches were released. The bulk of the reasoning for new Porsches seems to stem as a direct result of Hot Wheels no longer producing Ferraris after 2015. bad for Ferrari fans, but great for Porsche fans.

In the golden age of Hot Wheels Porsches, collectors have really taken a liking to the castings that were initially designed for premium. The 993, 964, 962, have all done well — especially the 993 — and the interest in the RLC 964 based off Magnus Walker’s real car has risen steeply over the last year or two. All the designs are great, but when you look at them head-to-toe with this newer #Porsche 911 Turbo (930), they seem to fall short of this classic. That is to say why many vintage Porsche fans were disappointed to see if with the Cyberpunk 2077 graphics first.

Now, we have an absolutely fantastic all-black release (with stunning bronze wheels) that is on the more limited side as far as Hot Wheels are concerned. Only 4,200 were produced and less than that were actually distributed to collectors. The remaining may be sold by Nationals/Convention organizer, CEU and/or will be repurposed as code 3 vehicles for future events.

This #Finale Porsche 930 will always be a high-value Hot Wheels car due to its limited nature. This 2023 Nationals release has already approached the $300-range on eBay! Perhaps it is only the start and should serve as a precursor to the popularity of this casting. The next release is in yellow in the always hard-to-track-down #Boulevard line. That release will prove to be difficult to find due to the “Yellowbird” correlation as the 930 shares a similar silhouette with Ruf CTR Yellowbird. It will be a spectacular start to this casting collection and will launch the legacy of the Hot Wheels #Porsche 911 Turbo (930) even further — and could wind up being the most coveted Hot Wheels Porsche of all-time.

  1. One of my favorites that’s not American Muscle. Have the 1986 959 coming. Porsche 911 Targa is my dream car.

  2. I was thinking the new 930 from the upcoming boulevard wave would look better paired with the king 993 GT2 in yellow from the OG boulevard series.

    • For sure. That value on the 993 Boulevard will certainly help drive the prices up on the soon-to-be-released 930 Boulevard.

  3. For the long time collector this craze has already been in motion for quite some time with the white Black Box, red 50th Anniversary Porsche set and two Preferred series Porsches in silver and yellow/gold.
