7/6/2020 — Roughly 2 months have passed since the 2020 Hot Wheels “L” case began to hit distributors in the US. The Firebird should be a new model, right? There’s a ‘2019’ embossed on the base.
Technically, it’s not part of the 2020 New Models because it was originally supposed to be a retool of the ’80s Firebird, but a new casting was ultimately created. I actually have an article detailing this that will publish on HWC.
Ahhh I see.. now that make sense..
Love that Galaxie. I’m a little confused; I could swear I saw that Firebird at a store near me yesterday. Maybe misremembering, I suppose.
The Firebird was an early release in Target’s exclusive L cases.
Correct. It was in the Target cases as a “first-to-market” which means cars from the next case are pulled forward. They’ve been doing this since the Kmart events of years past.
Ah, it was indeed at Target that I saw it. I’m seeing it again right now, in fact, and deciding I want it. Thanks for the explanation.
The Firebird is not an official new model, rather I believe it is a “First time in line”
Correct that it is not an official 2020 New Model. It was supposed to be a retool of the ’80s Firebird but Hot Wheels Designer, Brendon Vetuskey ultimately added the details necessary to make it specific to one model year. The end result was a new Hot Wheels casting.
M , M case . And article says 2 months since L hit US . Not here in Massachusetts . Most stores on e and f still . 1 target jumped to J , where’s g and h . Hahaha crazyness
The Tricera-Truck TH is dark blue, not black
