The 4th rendition of Japan Historics is here! This mix of #Car Culture actually began hitting retail a couple weeks before hobby dealers got their shipments. I found in store but chose to wait until my case from 1 Stop Diecast came, and I’m glad I did! Yes, I pulled the #Chase — woooohoooo! You can check out my excitement in the video below.
Japan Historics 4 features 5 cars — two of which are brand-new castings, two which have appeared in the series before, and one that goes from basics to premium.
One of said new castings is the #’64 Prince Skyline GT, which was also chosen to have the chase variant here. The common variant in blue is truly a historic piece. 60 years after going toe-to-toe with the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS in the Japan Grand Prix GT-II Race, it’s this #39 that put Nissan racing on the map, and made a name for the #Skyline. This car is vintage racing at it’s finest and a perfect choice for JH4.
The other new casting here is the ’72 Toyota Corolla Levin designed by long time Hot Wheels designer, Phil Riehlman. From what I understand, this is a classic #JDM car that certainly deserves it’s recognition. This first release in all orange should be the flagship version of the casting for years to come.
The #Nissan Fairlady Z returns to Japan Historics in a rather familiar look. Some could argue there is a likeness to the “Devil Z” from Wangan Midnight here. Not sure if it was done intentionally, but it sure does look menacing in this “midnight” blue. This is by far my favorite version of the casting to date.
The ’73 Honda Civic Custom goes from basics to premium here. It’s a fun casting that certainly deserves it’s shot on the Hot Wheels premium stage.
Lastly, the #Mazda RX-3 returns. It’s essentially a Japan Historics fixture in the series as it has appeared in JH1, JH2, and now JH4 — where you at JH3?!?!? This one is in another classic livery as it receives the Liberty Walk deco like the real, 1:1 promotional car.
JH4 has been so hot that it appears the cases at 1 Stop Diecast have SOLD OUT! Especially, after it appears the shipment received was loaded with cases that contained the #Chase piece. Thanks to my subscription with 1 Stop Diecast, I unboxed one of these 10-count cases on the OTD YouTube Channel, and have a full #Case Report for you here.

Hot Wheels #Car Culture cases (FPY86) contain only 10 vehicles, unlike Hot Wheels basics cases which have 72. In this mix, you are guaranteed to get all 5 cars in the series. There are two variants of the case — with or without chase piece. In a standard case (without chase) you will get two of each vehicle. In a case with a chase, you will have the chase piece inserted for the second piece of it’s casting counterpart.
Below you’ll find the case list — all of which are seen in this video and in the images below.
