9/17/2018 — The 32nd Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention in Los Angeles kicks off in just a little over 2 weeks — WOW! Seems like the Nationals in Dallas just ended. To give you an idea of how close we are, the convention cars have arrived, and convention organizers Mark & Jennifer Millhollin have taken to social media to show them off in their event exclusive packaging.
There will only be two souvenir cars available for purchase this year (scaled back from three a year ago). Those are seen here: #1 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon and #2 ’65 Mercury Comet Cyclone Gasser. In addition to these, the other Mattel-made exclusives will be the Finale release, Dinner release and RLC Exclusive release.
There are heavy rumors floating around the collector world that the Finale release will be the Dallas Finale ’55 Chevy Bel Air Gasser in reverse colors, the Dinner release will be Larry Wood’s new Steam Punk Tow Truck and the RLC “Pink” Exclusive will be the ’66 Batmobile. Not sure how valid these are but I have heard them for a while now. I guess we will see in a little over two weeks!
One last thing to note, the RLC Exclusive — formerly RLC Party car — will be available Friday, October 5th, from 9:30AM to 3:00PM in the souvenir sales room — per CEU’s recent facebook post. They also mentioned the car will retail for $20, cash only.
