03/10/2016 — Originally started in 2004, as a fun way to “elect” Hot Wheels cars into production, the HotWheelsCollectors.com sELECTIONs voting continues once again. In to sole bracket this year (meaning 1 release oppose to 4 or 2 cars in the series in previous years), heavy-hitting Hot Wheels “money-making” castings are pitted against each other. The matchups are below and voting is for all Red Line Club members at HotWheelsCollectors.com.
- Drag Dairy vs. Honda S2000
- Texas Drive ‘Em vs. Datsun 240Z
- ’64 GMC Panel vs. Datsun Bluebird 510
- Volkswagen Drag Bus vs. ’67 Camaro
A noteworthy assumption is that in order to speed up the production on sELECTIONs cars, the list of cars is based on vehicles that may soon be in production as many of these vehicles are in the HWC lineup already. This would play to the strength of the theory that production minimums are needed in order to expedite the chrome-plating process. Grouping multi-runs of the same casting would aid in this process. With that said, we could be seeing all these castings at some point or another in the near future — regardless of the results of the sELECTIONs voting.
