Can we talk about how cool the “HW VINTAGE ASST” is? We’ve seen it go from Vintage Racing Club to Salt Flat Racers to National Icons. This line provides us with nostalgic cars that are done at the semi-premium level in the Hot Wheels Silver Series. With that, we get full detail and an occasional metal/metal release. In 2026, we see the return of the line staring with the brand-new Vintage Club Barn Finds series, followed by Vintage Grand Prix and the return of National Icons.
The 5 vehicles in this mix all exist in a “barn-find” state; full of rust, patina, and even some Bondo. Here is a quick run-down.
We get a crack at uncovering a pretty cool Mustang in the form of the #’65 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. This one comes in yellow and features all of the elements of wear mentioned above. There is no metal base on this one unlike the chase variant of the casting in last year’s Mustang 60 series.
The Sooo Fast returns for only the 3rd time in the last 15 years. This time, it gets a Bonneville Salt Flats style livery which is probably the most realistic livery this casting has ever seen in it’s decent 25 year history.
One of my favorite Hot Wheels original designs in the #Mod Rod. This modified hot rod doesn’t look quote right with the rust on it, but I will always take a semi-premium release of this casting — now, let’s get it to premium! The Mod Rod is such a cool design by former Hot Wheels designer, Dmitriy Shakhmatov. That fact that the trunk straps on this one were detailed puts it among my favorites in my casting collection.
The best paint award goes to the #’71 Porsche 911 in this series. Not because it’s the least blemished, but rather because of it’s metalflake count. The light blue metalflake paint on this one reminds my of the amount of sparkle used in bass fishing boats. Check out the video below and you’ll see what I am talking about!
Moving from the premium ranks to the Silver Series lineup is the #Volkswagen “Classic Bug”. This one maintains it’s metal base and metal body for this release, giving it a rtue premium feel. What’s more impressive is the forest green paint on this one
I unboxed one of these 10-count cases on the OTD YouTube Channel within the full #Case Report that you see here. Tune in and let me know what you think. Let me know your thoughts.
